Wake green is a fantastic surgery . Today i came with my relative to see Doctor and Practice nurse for my recent health issues and review . The locum Practice nurse was amazing!! so extremely kind and caring . Very knowldgeable in diabetes and asthma and really helped with my Mother in laws diet and medication . I am so pleased to have such a great Surgery on my doorstep and so are my family . I dont understand the negative reviews as Brilliant surgery . The receptionsist were great helping us get a really quick appointment and sort perscriptions out . Come on wake Green Patients appreciate your NHS , if you had to pay for this it would be a different sorry . Many thanks .

I have been attending Wake Green Surgery for the past 32 years and I have absolutely NO complaints whatsoever about any Doctor or Nurse that I've ever seen. I have always received excellent care and treatment from all concerned. BUT - and it's a big 'BUT' - the appointment system is a disgrace! I get stressed at the thought of having to 'phone for an appointment. To be on the 'phone for half an hour from 8.30am and then, when finally through to 'a person', be told "no appointments today, call again tomorrow at 8.30am" is not an efficient use of time for the surgery or the patient. I am also not happy to discuss the problem with the receptionist when asked why I need to see a doctor. I was also astounded a while back to learn that just to speak to a doctor you would have to actually make an appointment for a telephone call and be diagnosed over the ‘phone. If you are lucky enough to get an appointment with a doctor you are only expected to be there for one particular condition. Sometimes there is more than one area of concern to do with one’s health that can be covered in one 5-8 minute session ‘while you’re there’ and not have to make a separate appointment. I accept that the days are gone when you could ask to see the same doctor that you’ve always known. At my now ‘tender age of 72+’ apart from our lovely Dr Crombie there are new doctors and nurses each time I need to attend the surgery. However, the reason I have come to the website today, and am giving my views, is because I am upset to receive a call, for THE SECOND TIME in a week, cancelling my appointment for simple blood tests. The call came just as I was about to set out for the surgery about 25minutes before the designated time. I saw Dr Chauhan on Thursday 8th August who said to book blood tests. Appointment made for Thursday 15th August - ‘phone call received the day before cancelling and re-appointed for today Monday 19th August. This has now been cancelled and the earliest date now is for Monday 2nd September - more than three weeks after seeing a doctor for blood tests which take less than five minutes. In years gone by the doctor would do the blood test there and then but now you have to see a phlebotomist! Surely, all doctors and nurses are qualified to take blood?! A couple of years ago I had to make separate appointments with a doctor, then a nurse to take blood, and another appointment for a nurse to do blood-pressure etc, all of which would have been covered by the doctor years ago – done and dusted in one appointment, saving time for other patients. Is there no liaison between the Doctors, Nurses, Receptionists, Practice Managers anymore? Do you have a “Patients’ Forum” or meetings where these issues can be discussed? Take my situation today – when the receptionist ‘phoned to cancel my appointment for the second time, because the nurse “had not turned up” could I not have been fitted in later the same day or tomorrow and not have to wait two more weeks for an appointment? I am fortunate that I’ve not been a frequent visitor to the surgery recently so I am not familiar with any changes in staffing, procedures or appointment systems etc. Nearly every year or two I’ve had to have my ears syringed and as I am currently deaf in one ear I asked if the nurse could look at my ear while I was there for the blood test, knowing that I would then have to make another appointment. I was therefore shocked to be told last week, when my first appointment was cancelled, that the surgery nurses no longer do ear-syringing. So that’s another worry to add to the list. I apologise for this diatribe but in conclusion would like to suggest the following: • to have more than one receptionist answering calls between 8.30 and 9.00am; • to have a direct line straight through to a receptionist not have to listen to “press 1 for this, press 2 for that, etc” and still have to wait for the call to ring out and be picked up whilst being told every few seconds what number you are in the queue; • for nurses and doctors to understand that sometimes, between the time of making the appointment and attending for the appointment, some other minor issue of concern may have occurred which could be dealt with at the time without having to make another doctor appointment. I have tried to call three times for an appointment, receptionist very unhelpful bordering on rude. No appointments are available despite being on hold for half an hour each time. I was also specifically told by my GP to contact the surgery immediately should symptoms reoccur. I have written to the Practice Manager but no response. I am extremely disappointed and at a loss as to what you are supposed to do when you genuinely need to see a GP urgently.

I was with this surgery since Nov'2011 and it was a very good example of Patients service. Dr Daniell was fantastic!!! but recent days this surgery has lost it's past glory. very sad to say, staff need proper training to serve the patients.
